SALSA
Salsa was popularised in the New York City in the 1960s. It is now an umbrella term that includes over 40 different rhythms from the Afro-Latin/Afro-Cuban Roots that has evolved over a few centuries. The dance evolved along with the music and was formalized into more structured learning in the late 1970s. Salsa as we dance today is a mix of elements from Afro-Cuban, Mambo, Pachanga, cha cha and many more external influences such as swing, tap, hip hop, ballet, etc.
